Shine bright like a tennisskirt

 It's been a while. Again.
And I don't know why I don't take more time for blogging, because I love it so much. So any psychology students who do have an idea, please enlighten me.
But! As I have a week off, I decided to pick up my camera, throw it at my boyfriend and begged him to take some pictures of me. And he did, so yay: a new post!
As this might look like a really decent outfit to most, I am actually wearing something that's way out of my comfort zone: white. I'm the kind of person that wears a LOT of black (by which I mean only black). White can only get dirty, and it's so bright and 'out there'. Deciding to pick up this white tennis skirt at American Apparel was a very impulsive action, but I don't think I'm going to regret it. I kind of like the clean look and I'm going to try and maintain it that way.
Next personal breakthrough: I'm smiling in a picture. We're slowly getting there. Anyway.
I paired my tennis skirt with this sweater from Brandy Melville (which I wear almost every day), some black tights and my Dr. Martens 1461's ( which I wear everyday). To complete my 'I might be 18 but I just want to look like a school girl'-look, I took my Fjallraven backpack with me.
( I kind of feel like I'm trying to accept this whole 'new' thing, the white skirt, by compensating it with a lot of trusted items. And that's okay. As long as it looks cute).
So yeah, thanks for still giving my blog another chance. It has been months. I'm not going to promise anything about upcoming posts, but I do have some ideas, so if you like you can find me on bloglovin and follow me on there!

Have a great weekend babes,

Shanna

Home

Hey there,

LONDON WAS AMAZING. I came home last friday night, a lot later than I planned to because all the luggage of our flight was lost. So we waited for two hours and when we were filling in reports they suddenly found them again. It was all kind of weird. So then I had to work saturday, sunday and this morning, but now I'm home and I'll have a day off tomorrow so I decided to take some time for my blog.

Yesterday morning I had to work really early, so I just threw on some stuff and only realised that I really liked what I was wearing when my boyfriend said I looked really good that day (thanks baaaabe). So I decided to share it with you and we went outside to take some pictures.
And the weather was shit so we had to run back inside when it started raining. But anyway, in this outfit I'm wearing my new pants I bought in London, and they are so nice. I got them at Topshop   (which has a five story building in Oxford St., and as someone who's used to a little Topshop boutique in Amsterdam, I was wow-ed. I got lost inside the building two times, for real) and it's a pair of 'Jamie' pants. And yes: they were more expensive than the ones without the cut-out knees, but. Yeah. I just really liked these. No shame on me.

My hat is a lovely fedora from H&M, and a little too big for me, so it kept flying off my head during our little shoot. My black cardigan is from Brandy Melville, and seriously one of the best things in my closet. Shirt is stolen from my lovely boyfriend, who admitted it looked better on me. And my shoes are just my Clarks again. (I won't bore you with the same shoes in every outfit, promise! I bought some new Dr. Martens in Camden Town last week, so stay tuned for those in a next post.)
Just before I went off to London, I also received this little Saturn-pendant in the mail, and I really like layering it with my other silver necklaces.
I'm planning on doing a post about the stuff I got in London before Thursday, because then I'm off to a festival yay, and maybe schedule one during that time, so you don't have to miss me that much.

 Kisses and thanks for reading,

Shanna

'You should start blogging again.'

My boyfriend said about a hundred times this summer. So I guess I should.
He was also nice enough to take some outfit pictures with me today, in the park across his street. I usually take my own pictures, so I had to get used to doing this with someone else, and stepping over my perfectionism. But he did really well, and I'm quite happy with how these turned out.
I feel like the best way to start this off (again), is with telling you I've changed my hair. And it was the worst decision ever to get a fringe in July.  Don't ever get a fringe in summer. Even though it looks insanely cute with all the hats and summer dresses. And ponytails. Scrunchies. ( Okay, it's kind of worth it).

This outfit consists of my most comfortable clothes, because I was sick and at my boyfriend's house and it was way too warm outside. My shirt is from Zara, and I got it last fall, but they always have a clothing rack with shirts like these. I got it in a large, because loose fitting clothes are the best. My shorts are from a local thrift shop, and they are Levi's 501's which I cut into the chillest pair of shorts   e-ver. And my feet I'm wearing black desert boots by Clarks (babes).

Wooo close up shot!  I'm really digging the dainty necklaces trend that's going around, with all different kinds of pendants available in your usual stores. I've chosen to start off my collection with just an old-looking coin I got from River Island for only 4 euro's!
Next to that, my belt is from H&M, and I've been looking for a belt that would fit around my waist for ages, so I was insanely happy I found this one.
I'm also wearing my relatively new backpack from Fjallraven Kånken, but I'd love to tell you more about that in an upcoming post!

I'm really feeling blogging again and I'm really glad I've found someone who likes to take some pictures for me. I think they came out way better than when I have to do everything by myself and it was a lot of fun as well.
Next week I'll be off to London, so I'm not sure when my next post shall be, but when I'm back, I'm destined to keep this blog alive.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely saturday!

Homicide

Hey,

 I. Love. Halloween. So. Much. Though I've never had a proper halloween party, however did have a few when I was a kid, and my mom always dressed me up as Wednesday Addams, probably because  of my long  dark brown hair and the fact that I was a smart ass, just like Wednesday. It's also a really easy look to complete with things you probably already own.
And as I was so destined to find me and my boyfriend a Halloween party this year, we're going on a small vacation with his family in the weekend all these parties are going on. So it's not going to happen.  *sad*
But as I have so much spare time, and I'm not really going to see anyone today, I thought it'd be fun to live up to my mom's tradition to dress me up as Wednesday and so here it is. I didn't even have to search for anything as my favorite dress served as a perfect basis for my costume.
So what I'm wearing: my American Apparel Baby Doll Dress in black, which I'm in love with. Then underneath my dress I wear this black tee with a Peter Pan collar from New Look which I bought ages ago. On my feet I'm wearing my frilly socks from River Island and Clarks. I don't feel like I'm wearing a costume at all, this is something I would put on any day.
What made me feel dressed up, was the way I did my make up and my hair. I used 'Crave' and 'Faint' of my beloved Naked Basics palette from Urban Decay, which I use daily, however this time I applied these colours a lot heavier, to give everything a gothic-y look. Then I applied some liquid eyeliner from Mac in a small but fat wing, to make my eyes appear wider, and some volumizing mascara.
My hair was the hardest part, not even joking. I am a clown at doing my hair, the reason why it's always down. So after two days of braiding I was okay with the way it looked and so my look is finished.

This post is scheduled, so I'm probably playing monopoly with my boyfriend's family at he moment and pretending to be a tiger with his little niece. I might do some last-minute halloween costumes, if I will be able to be serious with that idea.

Love,
Shanna

October Favourites

So I know October isn't really over yet, but I like doing my favorites early, so here they are! Yay! Exclamation marks! Anyway, I've made different groups of stuff I'd like to review in my favorites every month, so I have some beauty products, make up, clothing, random stuff and I'm also showing you my most-played vinyl of the month.

Starting with beauty. First of all, my favorite scent of all time; Coco Noir. I don't wear it that much in the summertime, because I prefer fruity, flowery scents in the warmer months, but now it's getting colder again I'm loving the musky scent of this perfume. It makes me feel elegant at daytime and sexy ( oh no she didn't) in the evening.
VASELINE. My lips are absolute hell in the winter. They get so chapped up and I can't wear any lipstick because it just looks horrible. So Vaseline, preferably in the Aloe Vera version, is something that's always in my bag now that it's getting colder. I've learned from previous years, okay.
My skin has been really nice to me the last couple of months. It's been so calm and moisturized by itself, so I haven't been using a lot of skin care products. To give it just a little boost, I got Lush's Angels On Bare Skin, which saved my life when I just hit puberty. It's a really soft scrub and it smells like lavender and baby fairies, so I'll be using this to give my face just that extra love it deserves.
I might be late with this but I just needed the NAKED Basics palette so much. I really don't like heavy eyeshadows, and I prefer neutrals over anything. The normal palette was a bit too much for me though; I knew I'd only use the matte colours in it. My mom bought me this at Sephora when she was in Rome, because Sephora left The Netherlands. Grr. But I'm really glad I have this and it contains all the shades I need in my life.
So as I love neutral eyeshadows, my lips I prefer as dark as possible ( or naked as well). So I picked up Mac Diva in September, to go a little darker than my Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in Passion. Mac Diva is a gorgeous matte dark red, and I've been wearing it nonstop lately. ( Which is why I didn't show you the lipstick itself. It looks horrible and attacked. )
I hated not being able to find a lovely nail varnish in Lilac. They were all OR greyish OR too dark. Yes, I get picky when it comes to my favourite colours. But Lilacism from Essie is just the perfect shade and goes so well with my all-black outfits ( which I wear almost everyday).
SO ALL MY FRIENDS WENT TO SEE JOHN MAYER LAST NIGHT AND I WAS NOT THERE. So I listened to his 'Where the light is' vinyl, which was so expensive but it is one of the best vinyls I own. I love this live set, so I didn't even regret not getting a ticket for his concert at. all. ( No I'm joking. I do. So much. Someone get me a ticket for tonight's show. Or tomorrow's. Pleaaaase.)

For the random section of this month, I wanted to talk about my obsession with Moleskine notebooks. Actually I don't want to talk about my obsession with Moleskine notebooks. They're kind of pricey and you can write on anything but the paper is so soft  you know. And the design is flawless. So I've been using a blank paper one for poems and drawings for a long time now ( left) and I loved it so much that I decided to get a diary as well. The layout of the pages is perfect and I never miss an appointment again! ( I suck at advertising stuff. But it is true; the paper just makes me want to write on it, so I do plan everything in.)
And I'm sorry to talk about Pokémon again. It's just been a really big thing in my life lately. I love the new game so my little brother's 3DS has been in my pocket for the past two weeks. I've just been using it a lot. It's probably the reason why I haven't been reading a lot of books lately. Next month, there will probably be a book in it's place in my pocket.
To finish it off, my favorite clothing items of the month. My American Apparel Riding Pants, which I've shown you in my first outfit post, have been my leg savers. I confess to be a skirt girl, but tights just get too cold on some days. The riding pants are so soft and the material really keeps me warm, so they are one pair of good pants.
My white blouse from Monki, is the perfect white blouse for me. I really don't like pointy collars, and most blouses have those. So when I saw this one I just had to get it and I love wearing it on it's own or underneath a sweater on colder days.

So thank you so much for reading my first favourites post, I'll post one of these every month if you guys want me to.

Love,
Shanna

Hey,

Was kind of surprised by the amount of views my first post got, but it did give me a lot of motiviation to go on with this. I've had a really busy weekend tho, it had been my boyfriend's birthday and he celebrated it on sunday. And the night before I went to Amsterdam Dance Event's Noisia Invites party in Amsterdam with my two best friends. So I had little time for anything else.
Here's my second outfit post though! Last week I received a lovely package from Asos, because I had been shopping at 1 AM, which always ends up in sending half the package back and keeping the things I'd just thrown in my basket because I thought they were cute. And useless. But reaaallly cute.
That's why I got these CAT SOCKS FROM LAZY OAF and they are by far the best thing in my life. I love their little faces and oh-my-god they have ears. I thank my half-sleeping self for getting these cuties. ( They have ears and catfaces ) ( EARS AND CATFACES) ( socks with ears and catfaces).
If I could only wear these socks in an outfit post, I would. But I'm also wearing my Denim Circle Skirt from American Apparel in a mint green colour. I'm not much of a colour person, but lilac and mint green I just can't resist, if paired with black though. I tucked in my basic black shirt from Monki and on my feet I got my standard Vans Authenthics.
I haven't been fully honest. I could've posted more, a lot more. But I was kind of busy with really important things like cuddling my Eevee to get it to evolve into a Sylveon. And getting way too excited about the new fairy type and my way too pretty team ( Espeon, Delcatty and Sylveon, I am one stylish trainer). I even bought the Pokémon X and Y guidebook, which also made my boyfriend really happy.

So I'm just going to claim some cuddles now, have a lovely week!

Shanna
